New DAW: Bitwig Studio – the Ableton Killer?
Bitwig is a bit like ableton – that means – the synths and plugs are below the audio track and arrange window, it has most of the things known from ableton – but it has a modular „environment“ which is more like max or the logic environment. It’s ex Ableton Codes in here, right? See the comments (Kommentare) for some add. thoughts!!

2009 gab es eine Preisverleihung, man hat die 25k€ offenbar gut angelegt, auch Ableton haben mit einem hochdotierten Preis einen guten Start hingelegt, allerdings mit einem damals sehr neuen Konzept, dies sieht etwas inspirierter aus? Na, erst mal nachschauen und dann urteilen…
Zuversichtlich war man vor 2 Jahren in jedem Falle – Es wird frischer und eine DAW wird wohl kaum noch in Zukunft mehr als 299€ kosten können, schon nachdem Apple die Preise enorm gesenkt haben und andere darauf auch irgendwie reagieren müssen – wer dann nicht zugreift tut es zumindest nicht wegen des Geldes – Es wird enger, individueller und günstiger. Vielleicht sind die großen Platzhirsche auch teurer, eine Weile – aber Ableton hatte schon eine Menge Schwierigkeiten mit der Stabilität und so weiter in Version 8, ist aber dennoch eine sehr zufriedenstellende Lösung für viele, es fehlen trotzdem NRPN/ MIDI-Controller-Kaskaden-Editoren, attraktivere Stepsequencer und so weiter – das scheint hier eigentlich kaum angegriffen worden zu sein, aber ein modulares Konzept dahinter – DAS ist wirklich kraftvoll und extrem spannend:

I’m particularly interested by some features described on their website:
– multi monitor support
– per note automation
– modular system (does it includes an SDK to push the limits very far?)
– mixer clip launcher vs arranger clip launcher
– jamming over internet & LANs (does it involve servers ?)
I’d be interested in a real MIDI support, I really miss a lot of real spontaneous and also real editing of Controllers especially MIDI Controller Cascades & NRPNs – like if you have an Andromeda or something, that sends a couple of MIDI CCs (2-6) to address a parameter and to get higher resolution (in case of the andro it is 16384 instead of 7bit / 128 steps) – but there’s no chance to „draw“ it on any DAW,..
the modular one is really interesting – I did not get the Max4Live back to work and it’s really hard to use compared to a Clavia G2 it’s almost text-block oriented (but that may be my personal thing)
there are some services about e-jamming, but most of them did not work out – really, maybe this time and it may be a good idea, that it’s already built in so everyone has the same platform so you can do a lot more of integrated – in the flow – work..
